Growing up in Oshawa, Ontario, Dr. Workman attended Donevan Collegiate, where he was valedictorian.  He earned his B.Sc. (Hon.) in Life Sciences with first class honours from Queen's University, prior to graduating in 1992 from the School of Optometry at the University of Waterloo, where he was class president.

Throughout his University career, Dr. Workman worked the line at GM, Lasco Steel (now Gerdau) and Toyota, as well as having driven bus for Oshawa Transit (for which he still maintains his license!).

After working for various private practices in Ontario, Dr. Workman established his own clinic from scratch in 1994.

An avid sports enthusiast as well as dedicated to the Port Perry community that has supported his practice for almost 20 years, Dr. Workman continues to sponsor numerous children's soccer and baseball teams, "The Hawkeyes".

Prior to having small children, Dr. Workman was a motorcyclist who raised funds for eye disease research through "The Ride For Sight".

Stephanie has had many years' marketing experience both in the fashion industry as well as in optical.  She divides her time between her NDEC 'home' as well as her own marketing/website design business.

Married since 2002, he and his wife, Stephanie, enjoy skiing as well as shooting hoops and playing road hockey with their two young daughters, Sydney Kate & Piper Lilly.

About Us

Our highly trained dispensers, Charlene, Sue and Nicole successfully completed the Canadian Certified Optometric Assistants (C.C.O.A) program.  Under Dr. Workman's guidance, they completed the year-long intensive program (offered through the Ontario Association of Optometrists), and are continuously updating their education about eye disease, lens technology and patient relations through various CE courses in Toronto, and as far away as Barbados!

The NDEC staff are extremely knowledgeable and fully trained to interpret prescriptions and dispense eyewear best suited to patients' lifestyle needs, personal style and budget.  Combined, the staff bring to the practice well over 20 years' worth of experience in the Optometric field, as well as a sense of fun and adventure to the process of choosing the perfect pair of glasses!
